Stamford primary election results are starting to come in. Stay with Patch for a running count of who's getting the nod from the people.

Stamford Clerk Donna Loglisci said at approximately 8:50 p.m. that David Martin unofficially won the Democratic primary election by a total of 298 votes over William Tong.

Martin said Tuesday night in the lobby of the Stamford Marriott that it was time to "reunite, reorganize and refocus" the Stamford Democrats and move forward towards the November race.

"The next challenge is the next election," Martin said. "People have been underestimating us since the beginning. We weren't supposed to win... We're going to win the next election."

Martin thanks his group of supporters, calling them "a great team, a great group of people that did a great job."

Martin said it was time to focus on addressing the problems of the people of Stamford now, and "that's what I'm going to do."

Martin also said Tong was a great opponent and he anticipated see a lot more from him in the future.
