Stamford Officials Break Ground On New Hospital

City officials and facility executives broke ground Tuesday on the new Stamford Hospital, a campus that will be built in a single phase with an estimated completion date of 2016.

"It's truly a momentous occasion in Stamford, for both the city and the hospital," said hospital president and CEO Brian Grissler. "We'll be providing first-class medical care at a world class facility."

Mayor Michael Pavia said being mayor of Stamford was far and away one of the most enviable jobs in America and called the event everything from "record-setting" to "monumental."

"There's not a mayor in the entire United States who wouldn't trade places with me with what we're accomplishing here," Pavia said. "This is going to set the pace for what we expect in Stamford in the future."
