Stamford Now 11th Safest City In Nation

Today, safety officials from the City of Stamford made an announcement regarding recent crime statistics released by the FBI.

Using numbers for crime rates in the city in 2012 compared to 2011, Stamford jumped in rank from the 15th safest city in the nation to 11th, it was the second-safest city in the Northeast region and the safest city in New England.

According to the statistics, crime dropped 4.6-percent overall, with a 9.8-percent reduction in violent crime and a 3.6-percent drop in property crimes. Aggravated assaults rose slightly, with police attributing that to an increase in domestic incidents.
