Stamford Atlantic Street Post Office Closes Friday

Stamford's historic 421 Atlantic Street Post Office is closing, for good, at the end of the business day Friday, September 20, as the Post Office moves forwards with the sale of the building, the government organization announced Wednesday.

The Post Office has not yet found a suitable new location, and will continue to look for a viable permanent alternative to provide postal services to residents in the immediate area.

In the mean time, however, PO Box customers are now required to pick up their mail from 317 West Avenue between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. Retail services, currently only offered on the Monday through Friday schedule, will also become available on Saturday hours starting September 28. Customers picking up their Atlantic Avenue PO Box mail should bring identification.

The Postal Service is working to build appropriate space at 317 West Avenue to provide current Atlantic Street PO Box customers with a new PO Box at that site by late fall or early winter. Those PO boxes will be made available at the West Avenue site until we find a new permanent location to replace the 421 Atlantic Avenue operation.  No change of address will be required by any current PO Box customers during this transition.

Retail services are also available at the following nearby locations:
