Rep. Fox Announces Expectations for $50M Stamford Bridge Project

The State Bond Commission is anticipated to approve a Metro-North Railroad Bridge replacement project on Atlantic Street.

 

According to an announcement by state Representative Gerald Fox III (D-Stamford), the State Bond Commission is anticipated to approve a $50 million project to replace a Metro-North Railroad Bridge in Stamford. 

The bridge, which runs above Atlantic Street, is expected to receive the funds to funance the project possibly as soon as Monday, Jan. 25, when the Commission reconveins.

The replacement is anticipated to "improve vehicular capacity and pedestrian access."

"I am pleased the State Bond Commission is scheduled to approve this $50 millionbond request to finance this important project for Stamford," Fox said. "The fundsare critically important to finance the replacement of the Metro-North Railroad Bridgeover Atlantic Street. Once, completed the project will benefit all vehicular drivers andpedestrians in the area. I want to thank Governor Malloy for placing the funding requeston the Bond Commission's agenda for approval.

Fox said the project is expected to create or retain approximately 1,575 construction-related jobs.
