U.S. Senate

  • Susan Bysiewicz (D): Here’s a recent Tweet from the Susan Bysiewicz Twitter account: It's time that women with the same job and experience of their male colleagues be paid the same #PaycheckFairnessAct
  • Linda McMahon (R): McMahon’s campaign recently posted a note on her blog saying supporters statewide have complained about push poll coming out of Chris Shays’ camp. Part of it said: “Unfortunately, Congressman Chris Shays’ campaign seems more interested in taking our Republican Primary into the mud—and is gearing up its efforts through falsehoods spread through the phones. We expect sometime this week for the Shays campaign to ‘produce’ polling numbers that differ drastically from every other survey—public and private – taken recently.”

4th Congressional

  • Steve Obsitnik (R): The Westport businessman described incumbent Jim Himes, a Democrat, as “Washington’s representative” in the 4th Congressional District, instead of our representative in DC, the Darien Times reported. Obsitnik pointed to higher costs for food and gas, among other shortfalls.
  • Jim Himes (D): Himes on his Twitter page posted this update—Gave grad speech at in Stamford. Used "tell me what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?" from Mary Oliver

5th Congressional

  • Justin Bernier (R): Republicans can win the open seat in the 5th District “if we stand strong and show daylight between us and the Democrats on the key issues facing our country,” the Plainville resident said on the Jim Vicevich radio show, according to his campaign site.
  • Chris Donovan (D): Donovan congratulated HealthyCT on receiving the federal funding needed to start up a consumer-directed health insurance company through the Affordable Care Act’s non-profit Consumer Operated and Oriented Plan program. “There are only 14 of these loans in the country right now, so once again, Connecticut is on the cutting edge of working to provide health care coverage to every family,” Donovan said in a press release.

[Editor’s Note: 4th Congressional District towns include Bridgeport, Darien, Easton, Fairfield, Greenwich, Monroe, New Canaan, Norwalk, Oxford, Redding, Ridgefield, Shelton (part), Stamford, Trumbull, Weston, Westport and Wilton.]
