In Race for Mayor, Martin Endorsed by Stamford Democrats

David Martin currently serves on the Stamford Board of Finance and previously served on the Board of Representatives for 26 years, the last eight as its President.

David Martin, Democratic candidate for Mayor, won the endorsement of the Democratic City Committee (DCC) on Thursday after the first ballot with the support of 26 committee members, including representation from all of Stamford’s neighborhoods and more than twice that of the next-closest contender according to a release from Martin's office.

Martin's vision and plan for Stamford includes a vow to restore confidence in city government. “We cannot hide from tough decisions or bend to the wishes of special interests,” Martin said in the release. “It is time to put Stamford and its residents first."

Candidates who did not secure the party’s endorsement will have the opportunity to petition onto the ballot and force a primary election. “With tonight’s decisive victory, we have a winning coalition in place that will provide the foundation forsuccess in the fall elections, including a potential primary,” said Campaign Manager Patrick Romano of Thursday's endorsement. “We have been running an aggressive field operation since mid-June and are fully prepared for the road ahead.”

Martin currently serves on the Stamford Board of Finance and previously served on the Board of Representatives for 26 years, the last eight as its President.
