Governor Urges Precautions With 100° Temps Forecast

Malloy urges residents to call 2-1-1 for information on nearby cooling centers.

With heat index temperatures forecasted to be over 100 degrees Fahrenheit for the next several days, Governor Dannel P. Malloy's office issued a reminder to residents to be cautious during this current heat wave.

“A few simple steps can greatly reduce heat-related issues, especially for the elderly, the very young and people with respiratory ailments who are more susceptible to the effects of high temperatures,” Governor Malloy said in the release.  “Many towns are opening cooling centers across the state.  Any resident looking for a place to cool off should call 2-1-1 to find out where their closest cooling center is located.”

The National Weather Service issued a Heat Advisory for non-coastal parts of the state inland, with additional advisories likely throughout the week.  High temperatures during this current heat wave are forecast to range from the mid to upper 90’s with heat index values between 100 and 105 degrees.
