Expect I-95 South Lane Closures, Exits 2-6 as Early as Thursday

Lane closures are coming to the center and left lanes of Interstate 95 in Stamford and Greenwich between Exits 2 and 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Perhaps as early as Thursday.

Weather may delay it, but the state Department of Transportation has announced lane closures on Interstate 95 south lanes between Exits 6 and 2 in Stamford and Greenwich.

On Friday the department announced the upcoming closures of left and center lanes, to take place between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., so that bridge joints can be inspected.

Here's the department's news release, issued Friday:

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that inspection work will be performed on bridge joints on I-95 southbound in Stamford and Greenwich and will require day time lane closures on Thursday Feb. 13.

Inspection work associated with the asphaltic plug joints in the towns of Stamford and Greenwich will require the daytime closures of the left and center lanes on I-95 southbound between Exits 6 and Exit 2. This work is scheduled to be performed on Thursday Feb. 13.

Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone. The regular work schedule for this project is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Monday thru Friday).

Segments of the following routes will be impacted by this project:  I-95 southbound between Exits 6 and 2 in the towns of Stamford and Greenwich.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. 

Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity. Additional lane closure information can be found on the department’s interactive map.

DOT Project No. 0173-04323 was awarded to New England Roads Industries, of Clinton, CT on Jan. 13, 2013 with an official start date of April 1, 2013 and an anticipated completion date of Aug. 31, 2014.
