CDOT Announces Stamford Transportation Center Garage Improvements

The Connecticut Department of Transportation will put contractors across the country into competition for a deal to demolish and rebuild the Stamford Transportation Center's garage.

CDOT is now actively seeking construction contractors for the demolition and rebuilding of the Stamford Transportation Center's .

"The DOT today posted a “Request for Qualifications and Conceptual Proposals” for the replacement of the existing parking garage located at the Stamford Transportation Center. The DOT seeks 1,000 or more parking spaces to replace the existing DOT-owned garage, and is also encouraging concepts for TOD proposals at the Transportation Center," CDOT announced in a press release.

The new parking garage will be built a quarter-mile away from the Stamford Transportation Center, hold over 1,000 new parking spaces, according to the proposal.

The Stamford Transportation Center's reconstruction will be welcome news for many Stamford residents who have suffered vehicle damage at the current garage due to the .

News of the STC garage's improvements, combined with recently-announced improvements to the Stamford Transportation Center itself, indicate a complete overhaul of the Stamford transportation hub, already one of the largest in Fairfield County.
