Campaign Notebook: Murphy Reports $1.2 Million in Donations

Senate

Chris Murphy (D): The Chris Murphy campaign reports raising more than $1.2 million in the second quarter, bringing his cycle donations up to $5.45 million.

Linda McMahon (R): Tim Murtaugh has replaced Erin Isaac as McMahon's communications director, according to the New Haven Register. Isaac returned to Florida for family reasons.

Susan Bysiewicz (D): In a recent statement, Bysiewicz supports President Obama's plan to extend tax cuts for small businesses and the middle class.

Third District

Rosa DeLauro (D): DeLauro expresses concern over the repeal of Obama's Affordable Care Act, reports ABC News.

She said, "It's more than just whether or not they will do it and it's politics. It is about the philosophy that is behind it and who they are willing to hurt and whose side they're on. That's what this vote is about. It's making health care affordable for those who have it and for those who do not have it. That is what Republicans do not want to have happen."

Wayne Winsley (R): In addition to being a candidate, Winsley is also a motivational speaker. His routine is called "Brave Enough to Fail, Destined to Lead."

Fourth District

Jim Himes (D): The Hill reports on Jim Himes' support for biking and carbon counting, which tracks the positive environmental impact of not driving. 

Steve Obsitnik (R): Obsitnik blames opponent Jim Himes for the poor rate of new jobs in June, which were reported by the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics, reports the Connecticut Post.

He said, "The Himes record has blanketed businesses both small and large with economic uncertainty causing people to rethink making critical investments in their people."

Fifth District

Andrew Roraback (R) remains uncertain of Chris Donovan's innocence in the campaign donation scandal. He said, "Either he knew of the alleged activity, in which case that makes him unfit as a candidate or he didn't know. In which case that calls into question the mainner in which he is running his campaign," reports the Hartford Courant.
