Campaign Notebook: Endorsements for Shays, Murphy

A daily roundup of the news and updates from the campaign trail in Connecticut.

Senate

The League of Conservation Voters, a pro-environment advocacy group, endorsed two candidates in June for Connecticut’s Senate race. On one side is Chris Murphy, the congressman campaigning for higher office. On the other is Chris Shays, a former congressman voted out of office in 2008.

Third District

Rosa DeLauro (D) and her other congressional colleagues from Connecticut announced a job training and housing grant program for veterans.

 "With this grant, The Workplace, Inc. will continue to lead the way in the critically important task of helping veterans adjust to the civilian workforce," said DeLauro said in a statement.

Wayne Winsley (R): The challenger posted this message on Facebook while seeking donations: “Our System isn't broken, liberals like Delauro have left the founder's intent. “

Fourth District

Jim Himes (D) was at the forefront of another public forum earlier this week . According to the Norwalk Citizen, Himes talked about financial issues and the possibility of deep government cuts.

Steve Obsitnik (R) has been all over Fairfield County campaigning. His Facebook pages has a number of photos of Obsitnik on the campaign trail, from radio interviews to meet-and-greets.

Fifth District

Chris Donovan (D) was at a forum in the Capitol, but did not comment to reporters about the campaign finance scandal involving a former employees, reports the CT Mirror.

Andrew Roraback (R) has already been endorsed by his party, and now he has another endorsement under his belt. His campaign recently announced the endorsement of Canton First Selectman Richard Barlow.
