Waitress Lacerates Patron at Hugo's, Alleges Sexual Harassment

A very public altercation at Hugo's Restaurant leads to two arrests; a waitress and a patron.

Stamford waitress Tapia Pavla, 22, and Stamford resident Fredy Catalan-Carias, 21, were arrested at 4:16 a.m. Monday as a result of a report on Catalan-Carias's part that Pavla assaulted him, and a counter-complaint on Pavla's part that Catalan-Carias grabbed her buttocks.

The Stamford Police Department states that officers were dispatched to Hugo's Restaurant while it was open on Sunday night to respond to a report of a waitress who assaulted a patron.

"When police arrived, they found Catalan-Carias with a cut over his right eye," SPD's Sgt. George Moran said. Pavla alleged that he was refusing to pay a bill, insulted her, and then grabbed her buttocks. She stated that she'd punched him in the face prior to reporting the incident to the manager."

According to Pavla's report, she alleged that Catalan-Carias and his friends had been giving her a "hard time" all night.

"As she walked away, he grabbed her buttocks, and she punched him. Her ring cut him," Moran said. Pavla was arrested at 1:18 a.m. and charged with second degree assault.

"Catalan-Carias alleges that Pavla was bringing him and his friends the wrong amount of drinks all night, and had to keep correcting her," Moran said. Catalan-Carias stated that Pavla punched him after a final correction.

Due to Pavla's counter-complaint in regards to the incident at Hugo's, Catalan-Carias was arrested at 4:18 a.m. on Monday morning and charged with disorderly conduct and sexual contact without consent.

Pavla was held on a $1,000 bond, while Catalan-Carias was held on a $2,500 bond. Both have posted bond and will appear in court later this week.
