Undercover Stamford PD Officers Bust Notorious Cocaine Dealer

Alleged drug-dealer Tory L. Hinton, also known to police as "Greenwich Mike", was arrested by the SPD on Wednesday as the end result of a long sting operation which involved undercover officers from Stamford and other jurisdictions.

Stamford's Narcotics and Organized Crime Squad is responsible for the arrest of Tory L. Hinton, a.k.a "Greenwich Mike", who was arrested Wednesday afternoon and charged with a combined eight drug-related felonies.

"The members of the Narcotics and Organized Crime Squad are familiar with Tory Hinton on sight," court documents regarding Hinton's arrest state. According to an SPD warrant, Hinton was convicted on narcotics charges in 2008 and 2010.

SPD's newest investigation into Hinton's activities began on May 24, when SPD officers joined with undercover officers from an undisclosed jurisdiction to make "transactions" with Hinton, with the first exchange involving a "purchase of $50.00 of crack cocaine."

The first successful transaction took place in Stamford, according to Hinton's arrest warrant, and officers making the transaction with Hinton wore recording devices. Over the next several months, SPD's narcotics officers would engage in five more transactions with Hinton, purchasing higher quantities of crack-cocaine each time. On October 23rd, an arrest warrant for Hinton's arrest was submitted and approved. Hinton was not located until Oct. 12.

"Officers were travelling west-boung on Richmond Hill Ave. approaching Spruce Street when they spotted a tan Honda Accord," SPD's incident report states. "The officers were aware that this vehicle was operated by Tory Hinton."
