Two Men Lead Stamford Police on a Low Speed Chase

The men were reported to police for allegedly following a woman down the street.

A woman reported to authorities she became alarmed when two men allegedly began following her in a vehicle as she walked down the street early Sunday morning, police announced Monday.

Officers took down a description of the vehicle and two Hispanic suspects allegedly inside, they said. The car and it's occupants were discovered a short distance away, according to authorities.

Police said when they attempted to pull the vehicle over, it wouldn't stop. It didn't speed off, it simply kept driving at a low rate of speed through town, police said.

Police said the car eventually stopped at a stop sign and the occupants ran off on foot. A foot pursuit ensued and the operator, identified as Jose Lopez-Garcia, 26, of Hanover St., was discovered attempting to walk away around the corner, police said.

Lopez-Garcia was arrested after a brief struggle. He faces charges of engaging police in a pursuit, operating a motor vehicle without a license, driving the wrong way down a one-way street and interfering/resisting.
