Trying To Get Caught? Stamford Man Charged With Bringing 19 Bags of Weed to Probation Meeting

Easy arrest for police.

If there is one place you don’t want to be caught breaking the law, it’s in a courthouse.

But Darren Shelley, 22, threw caution to the wind when he went to a meeting with his probation officer in Stamford on Monday. While the men were talking in the courthouse basement, his PO began to smell a familiar and illegal odor, the Stamford Advocate reports.

State troopers were called, and they allegedly found 19 bags of weed in Shelley’s pockets. This is not the first time Shelley’s penchant for carrying marijuana has landed him in hot water.

Last August he pleaded guilty to marijuana possession. He also pleaded guilty to risk of injury to a child and as part of his sentence was given a two-year and three- month suspended sentence. After being busted again Monday, he may have to serve part or all of this suspended sentence, the Stamford Advocate reports.

Assuming that all 19 bags weren’t for personal use, the police charged Shelley, of 200 Block of Selleck St., with illegal sale of a controlled substance and held him in lieu of a $5,000 court appearance bond. His arraignment will take place on June 23 at the very same Stamford courthouse.
