Tensions Up Between Dog Walkers, Homeowners at Stamford's Mianus Park

Stamford Animal Care & Control Shelter officials said Friday that the issue with dogs being off-leash in Mianus Park has been escalating over the past week and they are worried about the rising tensions between homeowners near the park and those bring their animals.

Authorities said off-leash reports have spiked over the last week, and homeowners have started confronting dog walkers when animals are entering onto private property. Homeowners have also been providing the animal control office with videos of perpetrators, including one man walking around ten dogs with several of them running free off-leash.

Shelter Officer Tilford Cobb said they've even received one report from a woman in the area who said she confronted an off-leash dog walker and had her and her family's lives threatened during the confrontation.

Officers said they'd be conducting yet another ticketing push in the area to try and keep dog walkers following the rules and keep the peace between those utilizing the park and those who live nearby.
