Teen Faces Robbery, Assault Charges For Stamford Mugging

A 17-year-old Stamford teen has been arrested on charges he beat and robbed a man who was walking home from work last month.

According to Stamford Police Lt. Diedrich Hohn, "On June 18, the victim was walking home from work when he was attacked by a Hispanic male and a black male. The duo struck the victim on the head with a bottle in the area of 31 Rose Park Ave. As he fell to the ground he was punched in the face with cash and his cellphone being removed from his pocket. The victim did not report this right away fearing repercussions from the suspects."

The department's Bureau of Criminal Investigation developed suspects while investigating similar robberies involving juveniles in the area, Hohn said in a statement.

"The victim was shown a photo lineup and he picked out the 17 (year-old) juvenile," Hohn said. Police obtained an arrest warrant on July 8 and arrested him at his residence at 17 West St. later that day.

He was charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree assault and third-degree criminal trespass. He was brought to the Bridgeport detention center by the Youth Bureau.
