Teen Arrested in Downtown Stamford Robbery Attempt

The teen allegedly brandished a fake weapon during the incident.

Stamford police arrested a city teenager Wednesday morning on charges that he attempted to rob a 35-year-old male in the area of the Parc Grove Apartments.

The victim reported to police that just before 1 a.m. Wednesday in the area of Greyrock Place and Forest Street, a black male and a white male stopped the victim and asked him if he had any money.

The man said the white male then brandished what was described as a "shiny black handgun," police said. While the weapon was displayed, police said nothing was taken from the victim and he was not assaulted.

Police responding to the scene identified a pair of males in the area of Summer and Spring streets no more than ten minutes later and brought them to police headquarters.

The victim was able to pick out the white male who allegedly brandished the gun, identified as Emmanuel Sevilla, 18, of Forest Street, from a lineup, according to police. The second male was released without charges, police said.

A weapon was recovered, but didn't have further information on what it was, only that it was not a real handgun. The classification means the weapon shown was either a BB gun, pellet gun or toy.

Sevilla was charged with criminal attempt at first-degree robbery and carrying and brandishing of facsimile firearm. He was held on a $15,000 bond.
