Stamford Woman Sleeping When Gun Fired Through Bedroom Door

The bullets missed her by mere feet, police said.

A Stamford woman sleeping in her home along Main St. at approximately 2:40 a.m. Monday morning was awakened by someone firing a gun into her home, Captain Richard Conklin said Tuesday.

The woman was asleep in her bed at 186 Main St. when someone fired repeatedly through a door in her bedroom that has access to the outside. Conklin said they believe the act was a deliberate attempt to murder the woman.

A forensic team recovered two bullets lodged in her bed and two of the three from the ceiling, the captain said. Police are currently in possession of them and running further tests, he said.

"There's no witnesses and no descriptions of the suspects yet," Conklin said. "It's just a dangerous situation right now. no one has taken any claim for it yet."

The shots were fired 10 to 15 feet away from the door, Conklin said.

Conklin said while they've progressively been making gun arrests related to the rash of recent violence around the city, it is inconclusive but unlikely that this incident is related to the others, though nothing is being ruled out.
