Stamford Woman Robbed and Sexually Assaulted Near Downtown Condo

The Stamford Police Department has arrested and charged Bridgeport's Frank Moore for sexually assaulting a Stamford woman and then stealing her car.

An unidentified female Stamford resident was allegedly mugged and sexually assaulted by Frank Moore, 20, of Bridgeport on the morning of Aug. 15, according to the Stamford Police Department.

SPD states that the female victim was attacked in the laundry room of her condo at 12:05 a.m. on Monday.

"The victim was robbed and sexually assaulted," SPD Lt. Jim Matheny said in a press release. "She was able to fight off her attacker who fled from the scene on foot. The victim had her keys and other personal items stolen during the assault. The victim’s physical injuries were not serious, largely because of the ferocity of the struggle she put up against her assailant."

SPD states Moore returned to the area of condo between 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., stole the victim's car, and fled to the Hollow section of Bridgeport, where investigators from the Bridgeport Police Department's TNT were conducting a narcotics operation on Aug. 15.

With the Stamford female victim's car reported stolen, BPD officers identified the stolen victim when Moore attempted to purchase drugs in the Hollow.

"TNT officers attempted to stop the vehicle, which fled. Eventually, the vehicle stopped and the operator fled with Bridgeport officers in pursuit. The suspect was apprehended after a foot chase during which one Bridgeport officer was injured," Matheny said.

After learning that SPD was hunting Moore in connection to several crimes committed in Stamford, BPD contacted Stamford police to confirm Moore's identity.

"Following arraignment at Bridgeport Superior Court, the suspect was released. Based on the strength of an arrest warrant signed in Stamford Superior Court, Bridgeport Police Officers once again located the suspect at his residence at 236 West Avenue in Bridgeport and re-arrested him," Matheny said in his official press release.

Moore, who holds several undisclosed addresses in Stamford, is charged with first degree burglary with bodily injury, third degree robbery, third degree larceny, third degree sexual assault, and unlawful restraint. He is being held on a $250,000 bond until he is arraigned in Stamford.

"This arrest highlights excellent work by both Stamford and Bridgeport Police Departments and individual officers and investigators," Matheny said.
