Stamford Victim has Artery Severed in NYE Stabbing

A man who was stabbed during a dispute at a party ran a quarter-mile with a severed artery.

A stabbing during a New Years Eve party left a man with a severed artery that resulted in a trip to Stamford Hospital, Lt. Diedrich Hohn said Thursday.

According to Hohn, the victim was attending a party on Davenport St. when he got into an altercation with a Hispanic male also at the party.

The victim was stabbed in the arm, which resulted in a severed artery that began gushing large amounts of blood, Hohn said.

The victim then ran to where he believed he would be safe, at an address in the 300 block of Greenwich Ave. Hohn said this was approximately a quarter-mile away. Officers who arrived at the scene on Davenport St. were able to follow a clear blood trail to the current location of the victim, Hohn said.

The victim was taken to Stamford Hospital and received surgical care for the wound. Hohn said police have a good idea of who the suspect is and anticipate an arrest in the near future.

Stamford Arrests

Ruben Jose Crespo, 33, of Martin St., charged Wednesday night with possession of a controlled substance, possession near a school or day care and sale of a controlled substance.

Calvin Andrew Powell, 41, of Main St., charged Wednesday morning with possession of narcotics ad interfering with an officer/resisting.

Ever Misael Zuniga-Valle, 20, of Vassar Ave., charged Wednesday night with illegal operation of a motor vehicle in violation of the license class and failure to drive right.
