Stamford Teen Shot with BB Gun; $10K in Damage to Car

Police withheld the name of a teenager arrested Monday in the case because of his age.

Police say they've arrested a city teen on after he and four others reportedly shot a 16-year-old boy with a bb gun and then smashed his car with a baseball bat.

The incident occurred March 3 at and all of the youths involved are Westhill High School students, according to Stamford Police Lt. Diedrich Hohn.

The arrested teen's name was withheld because he was 17 at the time of the incident.

On Monday, the teen was arrested and charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, first-degree criminal mischief, second-degree breach of peace and three counts of conspiracy to commit a crime.

According to Hohn, the victim had arrived in his car at Scalzi to pick up a friend. The group of five pulled up in a car to the 16-year-old and pulled out a bb gun and started shooting him.

"He did dive for cover under his own car, and then they repositioned their car to shoot him again, and got out and smashed up his car with a baseball bat," Hohn said.

About $10,000 in damage was done to the car, he said.

Information on the arrested teen's court appearance and pending charges against other individuals involved was not immediately available.
