Stamford Teen Charged with Hiding Drugs, Shotguns in Attic

The teen was arrested following a six-month investigation, police said.

Stamford police have arrested and charged a Custer St. teen on a litany of drug and weapons violations after police served a search warrant on his home Wednesday afternoon after a 6-month investigation, authorities said Thursday.

According to Lt. Tim Shaw, Richter R. Rinvil, 19, was served a warrant to search his apartment Wednesday while he was driving on Custer St. away from his home. Police said baggies of suspected powder cocaine and cash were allegedly sitting on the kitchen table and a K-9 unit began "indicating" that marijuana was present in the bedroom.

Authorities searching the home discovered an attic door with a lock that was not secured and entered the above space. In it, Shaw said they allegedly discovered two sawed-off shotguns and a cooler filled with drugs, cash and a scale.

Shaw said the cooler allegedly contained $3,000 in cash, a 1/2 gram of cocaine, 15 folds of heroin worth approximately $300 and 293 grams of marijuana worth approximately $1,500.

Rinvil was charged with possession of a hallucinogen, possession of a controlled substance, possession of narcotics, sale of certain illegal drugs, operating a drug factory, two counts of sale of a controlled substance, two counts of possession of a controlled substance within 1,500 feet of a school, two counts of possession of a sawed-off shotgun and two counts of criminal possession of a firearm.

Rinvil was held on $250,000 bond and scheduled to appear in court Thursday.
