Stamford Resident Suffers Head Wound After Being Attacked With A Log

Connecticut Avenue's Lugens Telsaint was arrested by SPD after a two-day search and charged with second degree assault for beating a male victim with a log while provoking him to fight.

An unidentified male victim filed a complaint with SPD against Lugens Telsaint, 20, of 57 Connecticut Ave., leading to Telsaint's arrest for allegedly assaulting him with a large stick.

"The complaint states that the victim was sitting at 8 Myano Ct. when a Haitian male known only to him as 'Lugens' approached him at 6 p.m. on the 27th," SPD's Sgt. Robert Shawinsky said. "Apparently, they had a dispute several weeks ago over a basketball game. The complainant stated that Lugens was there to provoke him into a fight."

While Telsaint insulted the victim, urging him to fight, the male victim refused, according to the SPD, stating that "he was on probation".

"Lugens persisted, and the victim walked away. Lugens followed him, still trying to instigate a fight," Shawinsky said.

A report of the incident states that Lugens eventually picked up a "log" from nearby and struck the male victim in the eye.

"After the assault, Lugens ran off, and police were called," Shawinsky said.

The victim was taken to Stamford Hospital and treated for a head wound while police searched the area for Telsaint. While the male victim was later released, Lugens was not found in the area where the attack took place.

"He was picked up in Stamford on Thursday at 10:50 a.m.," Shawinsky said.

Telsaint's arrest location and bond were not released, but he will be in court on Friday.
