Stamford Police Raid Alleged Prostitution Parlor

Four Stamford locations were involved in the raid. One was allegedly involved in prostitution.

On Friday, February 15th, 2013, various Stamford government agencies executed search warrants on four locations in an operation searching out illegal massage parlor operations, the police announced this week.

The Stamford Police Department Narcotics and Organized Crime Unit executed the warrants while joined by Stamford Health Dept., Stamford Building Dept. and the Stamford Fire Marshal’s Office.

The case began after authorities said they allegedly received numerous complaints from the community regarding these establishments, including claims that acts of prostitution were being performed at these locations, police said.

  • The Aloha Spa, 1055 E. Main St. - One charged with prostitution, one charged with patronizing a prostitute. One summons issued for massage therapy without a license.
  • Palm Tree Spa, 985 E. Main St. - Four summons issued for massage therapy without a license and one summons issued for interfering with police.
  • Apple Salon, 934 E. Main St. - Two summons issued for massage therapy without a license.
  • Swedish Health Spa, 197 Main St. - Three summons issued for massage therapy without a license.

Lt. Tim Shaw, head of the Narcotics and Organized Crime Division, confirmed those charged in the Aloha Spa as Daniel Drake, 58, of Waldon Rd. in Darien, who was charged with patronizing a prositute, and Aizi Yin, 44, a resident of the Aloha Spa, who was charged with prostitution. Police said the pair was in the process of culminating a sex act when they were discovered.

Police seized approximately $5,000 in the raids, as well as condoms at
the Aloha Salon, the Palm Tree Spa and the Swedish Health Spa. A followup investigation will be conducted by all agencies involved, Stamford police said.

I want to know how the "Neighbors" who called in actually knew there was prostitution going on in these places... Did one of their husbands get caught going in or coming out by his wife or someone and had to blow the whistle on the whole operation...lol Maybe owners of these types of places should look for less "neighborhood" type areas to open so the more puritanical amongst us can sheild their eyes from seeing them when they go out to buy their chastity belts and bibles.

and they only got one guy and one woman in the whole raid? Doesn't sound like much of a crime... anyways, how does one prove that these two were actually having paid for sex and not just free sex? what if they were in a relationship? What if they were just two consenting adults who wanted to have sex right there, right then? just because your in a brothel, having sex with someone there doesn't prove prostitution is happening.

@Webster... I guess cause its a basically easy job to do. and it beats investigating other crimes or running down a perp or actually doing some real work. Why not just mail these places a letter saying "Look, we know you are just a cover for a prostitution ring, fill this envelope with $$$ and send it back to us and we'll see ya next year!"
