Stamford Police Raid Alleged Prostitution Parlor

On Friday, February 15th, 2013, various Stamford government agencies executed search warrants on four locations in an operation searching out illegal massage parlor operations, the police announced this week.

The Stamford Police Department Narcotics and Organized Crime Unit executed the warrants while joined by Stamford Health Dept., Stamford Building Dept. and the Stamford Fire Marshal’s Office.

The case began after authorities said they allegedly received numerous complaints from the community regarding these establishments, including claims that acts of prostitution were being performed at these locations, police said.

• The Aloha Spa, 1055 E. Main St. - One charged with prostitution, one charged with patronizing a prostitute. One summons issued for massage therapy without a license.
• Palm Tree Spa, 985 E. Main St. - Four summons issued for massage therapy without a license and one summons issued for interfering with police.
• Apple Salon, 934 E. Main St. - Two summons issued for massage therapy without a license.
• Swedish Health Spa, 197 Main St. - Three summons issued for massage therapy without a license.

Lt. Tim Shaw, head of the Narcotics and Organized Crime Division, confirmed those charged in the Aloha Spa as Daniel Drake, 58, of Waldon Rd. in Darien, who was charged with patronizing a prositute, and Aizi Yin, 44, a resident of the Aloha Spa, who was charged with prostitution. Police said the pair was in the process of culminating a sex act when they were discovered.

Police seized approximately $5,000 in the raids, as well as condoms at
the Aloha Salon, the Palm Tree Spa and the Swedish Health Spa. A followup investigation will be conducted by all agencies involved, Stamford police said.
