Stamford Police Discover 3rd Victim in Weekend Shooting

The shooting out front of a city barber shop took the life of a 25-year-old man.

Stamford Police announced Monday the discovery of a third victim who suffering wounds in a weekend shootout out front of a city barbershop that took the life of one man and injured a second.

According to Capt. Richard Conklin, approximately 12 men were out front of the Cut Masters barbershop on Richmond Hill Avenue Friday night playing dice when a suspect arrived on scene and opened fire.

During the incident, Jeffrey McNeil, 25, was struck in the torso and died Saturday morning his injuries. A second man was shot in the knee. The third victim was not immediately known to police because the victim drove himself away from the scene after being grazed by a bullet along the back.

The man took himself to Greenwich Hospital and was only later connected to the case by police. The man was treated for non-life threatening injuries and released.

Chief Jon Fontneau said he knew the funeral for McNeil would be Saturday and said, so far, the city's first homicide of the year doesn't look like an indication for a repeat of the violence that erupted last summer. He asked the public assist with information whenever they can, though.

"It doesn't appear to be something that is widespread at this point," Fontneau said. "We're looking at all the ways that can garner info for us. All calls to the Stamford Police Department can and will remain anonymous."
