Stamford Police Detail UBS Protest Arrests
Stamford police on Tuesday released additional details on the parties arrested during Monday's protests declared to be against UBS' mountaintop blasting and drilling operations.
In total, 14 parties were arrested from two separate locations and identified as members of the group Hands Off Appalachia, Capt. Sue Bretthauer said in a release.
The first call came from luxury apartments being constructed at 66 Summer Street, with a number of people climbing the 220 feet to the arm of the crane to hang a banner from it while an additional party was strapped to the trapdoor of the crane cabin in a manner that would cause the party harm if the door was opened.

The second call at approximately 12:30 p.m. included a number of participants storming the UBS headquarters at 677 Washington Boulevard, again hanging a banner at the scene, with several chaining themselves to the doors and stairway railings there.
Seven people were arrested at each location. Charges for the following individuals range from first-degree criminal trespass, second-degree breach of peace, second-degree criminal trover (forcibly entering, removing the ignition of, or using a motor vehicle without the owner's permission or damaging a vehicle resulting in economic loss) and conspiracy counts on each of those charges.
