Stamford Police Charge Bus Driver Who Hit Kids With Infraction

A bus driver who struck two students at Westhill High School in early June will be charged with an infraction, police released Monday.

According to the Stamford Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad, the driver of a school bus that struck two students at Westhill High School in June will be charged with a motor vehicle infraction.

Christopher Lecky, 32, of Stamford, was driving the bus that, on June 1, 2012, was travelling westbound on Roxbury Rd. before , struck an SUV and two students sitting on a rock wall, the travelled some distance before hitting a raised median that brought the bus to rest across all lanes of traffic on Roxbury.

Lecky will be charged with Failure to Drive in the Established Lane via a Prosecutor's Summons.

Both students hit by the vehicle were transported to Stamford Hospital following the incident and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Investigator's said a mechanical inspection of the vehicle failed to show why the bus would have lost control, ut bus surveillance tapes did not show or explain why the event occurred either. Lecky reportedly told authorities he had no recollection of the events prior to losing control.
