Stamford Police Arrest Three on Drug Charges

Stamford authorities arrested three men following a Narcotics & Organized Crime sting Tuesday afternoon, police reported Wednesday. 

According to Capt. Richard Conklin, N&OC units received information that a Jeremy James "Rock" Robinson was in possession of a quantity of crack cocaine and was in the process of selling it. 

While conducting a surveillance operation in the area of Atlantic and Woodland Streets, they witnessed a Buick being operated by a Juwan Gonsalves, containing Robinson, make an illegal U-turn, Conklin said. The vehicle was stopped and police discovered it was not insured or registered and the license plates did not belong to the vehicle, he said.

In the vehicle were Robinson, 21, of 2900 Main Street in Bridgeport, Gonsalves, 20, of 728 Arctic Street in Bridgeport and Brandon Dixon, 24, of 489 Jackson Avenue in Stratford.

The captain said an inventory of the vehicle was taken prior to towing it, and, in the center console, bags of crack cocaine, heroin and marijuana were discovered. 
In total, Conklin said the following was recovered:

  • 8 baggies of marijuana totaling 5.5 grams and a street value of roughly $80 to $160 
  • 18 baggies with small quantities of crack cocaine and 3 baggies with  large quantities of crack cocaine totaling 12.1 grams and a street value of roughly $1,200 
  • 12 bags of heroin labeled "1st Choice" with a street value of roughly $240
  • $438 in cash from Robinson's person
  • $655 in cash from Gonsalves' person
Dixon was charged with possession of a controlled substance, sale of a controlled substance, sale of drugs near a school, interfering with an officer, three counts sale of certain illegal drugs, three counts possession of narcotics, and conspiracy counts on each of those charges. 

Gonsalves was charged with possession of a controlled substance, sale of a controlled substance, two counts sale of drugs near a school, two counts sale of certain illegal drugs, two counts possession of narcotics, conspiracy counts on each of those charges, operating a motor vehicle without a license, illegal operation of a motor vehicle without the minimum insurance, improper use of a marker, license or registration and improper turning. 

Robinson was charged with possession of a controlled substance, sale of a controlled substance, two counts possession of narcotics, two counts sale of certain illegal drugs, two counts sale of drugs near a school, and conspiracy counts on those charges. 

Each was held in lieu of a $50,000 bond and given a court date of October 15, 2013.
