Stamford Police Arrest Suspect in June Pistol Whipping, Shooting
Stamford police on Monday announced the arrest of a wanted felon with the assistance of Metro North Police (MTA) after receiving information the man was visiting with friends in town Sunday.
Police said Michael "Murdah" McFarlane, 20, was arrested Sunday while in possession of a loaded .32 caliber handgun in his jacket pocket. He was stopped by MTA officers attempting to exit a train in Bridgeport after Stamford police learned he was heading out of the city and notified the authorities of his travels.
McFarlane was turned over to Stamford police on two warrants. On June 25, 2013, McFarlane stands accused of pistol whipping a female acquaintance in Friendship Park on Richmond Hill.

Also on June 25, 2013, he is accused of attempting to rob a second acquaintance. When that victim refused to turn over his possessions, McFarlane allegedly pulled out the gun and shot several rounds at the victim as he fled south on Richmond Hill Avenue. Two of the rounds found their intended victim, accoring to police. One of the rounds in that incident struck a vehicle occupied by a family with a small child inside, police said.

For the MTA arrest:
- Possession of a dangerous weapon
- Possession of a pistol without a permit
For the Friendship Park incident:
- Second-degree assault
For the Richmond Hill shooting:
- First-degree assault
- Criminal attempt at first-degree robbery
- First-degree reckless endangerment
Stamford police publicly thanks the Metro North PD for "assisting and apprehending McFarlane, who was a severe danger to the community." US Marshals also assisted in the investigation.
