According to Lt. Diedrich Hohn, "It was a domestic assault...an argument with him thinking she was seeing someone else." Hohn said the suspect "tried to strangle her with an electrical cord and kept her from leaving" when she called 911 shortly before 1:30 p.m. July 14.

Anthony E. Brooks, 46, of 125  Propsect St., was charged with first-degree unlawful restraint, second-degree assault, disorderly conduct (threatening), first-degree strangulation and first-degree reckless endangerment.

The victim was treated and released from Stamford Hospital, Hohn said.
