Stamford Man Turns Himself in After Alleged Attack on Wife

The 22-year-old man allegedly became enraged and kicked in the victim's door, police said.

A Stamford man was arrested Wednesday after turning himself over to police in connection to an incident that occurred this past February, authorities announced Thursday.

Rudi Laaj, 22, of the 100 block of Spruce St., was arrested on charges stemming from a February 2, 2012 domestic incident in which he allegedly attacked his wife, police said.

Authorities attempting to notifiy the victim of the developments in the case found that she had moved to Guatamala. Laaj and the victim had two children together, police said. It was unclear where the children were currently located.

Laaj was accused of kicking in the victim's door and physically attacking her in the February incident, at one point allegedly strangling her and yelling "If I can't have you, then you'll be nobody's," according to authorites.

Police said Laaj ran from the scene when his estranged wife bit him.

 Laaj was scheduled to appear in court Thursday. He faced charges of threatening, strangulation, criminal mischief, burglary and disorderly conduct.

Other Arrests:

Kenneth Atterberry, 46, of Pacific Street, was charged with larceny.

Carlos Aviles, 42, of Leeds St., was charged with illegally operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Henson James Blanc, 30, was remanded from the New York State Corrections and charged with failure to appear and two counts violation of probation.

Alice Diaz, 38, of Maryland Ave., was charged with larceny.

Edison Trujillo, 23, of Colonial Rd., was charged with larceny and criminal mischief.
