Stamford Man Stabs Self, Fights with Officers: Police

arrested a 23-year-old city man early Sunday after he reportedly stabbed himself in the stomach during an argument.

Rodney J. Collins, of 19 Victory St., was charged with risk of injury to a child, interfering with an officer, violation of a protective order, assault on a police officer and creating a public disturbance.

Shortly after 6 a.m., Collins went to the Southwood Square apartment complex in Stamford’s Waterside neighborhood, and became combating when he was told that he could not pick up his child because he was drunk, police said. When police arrived on scene, he reportedly became combative with the officers.

Collins was held on $50,000 bond and scheduled to appear March 19 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
