Stamford Man Sentenced to 39 Months in Prison for Cocaine Distribution

Frank Green, Sr., 46, formerly of Amelia Place, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiring to distribute cocaine in December.

A Hartford judge sentenced a Stamford man Tuesday to 39 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release for his role in a cocaine distribution conspiracy.

According to a statement released by Thomas Carson, U.S. attorney for the District of Connecticut, Frank Green, Sr.., 46, formerly of Amelia Place, regularly purchased cocaine from co-defendant Gavin Hammett, some of which he redistributed to others. Between March and June 2010, Green purchased approximately 300 to 400 grams of cocaine from Hammett.

Green pleaded guilty to one count of conspiring to distribute cocaine in December and has been detained since June. His criminal history includes seven prior felony convictions for narcotics and weapons offenses.

Green's arrest was the result of “Operation Hammertime,” a four-month long DEA Task Force wiretap investigation that targeted a drug trafficking operation run by Hammett out of the Roodner Court housing complex in Norwalk.

More than one kilogram of cocaine, over 200 grams of crack cocaine, multiple bundles of heroin, over $100,000 in cash, seven vehicles and two firearms were seized during the investigation.

Charles Handy, 43, of Sherman Avenue, Stamford, was in April of one count of conspiracy to distribute cocaine base (“crack cocaine”) and two counts of possession with intent to distribute cocaine base as a result of “Operation Hammertime.” He is scheduled to appear in court for sentencing on July 1.

Hammett has pleaded guilty and awaits sentencing.

The DEA Task Force that investigated the case included Bridgeport, Stamford, Norwalk and Stratford Police Departments as well as the Connecticut State Police.
