Stamford Man Reports Having Gold Tooth Pulled During Robbery

Stamford police responding to reports of a robbery Tuesday night found a man who had his gold tooth removed by the suspects during the incident, authorities said Wednesday.

According to police, officers responding to 261 Greenwich Avenue around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday found a 55-year-old Hispanic man out front of Los Luceros Market who said he'd just been attacked by a group of four black males and four black females.

During the altercation, the group allegedly took money from his pockets then removed the battery from his cellphone so he couldn't call police, authorities said.

Police also said the group had pulled out the man's gold tooth, but threw it back at him, telling him he could keep it.

The man said the group may have used some sort of edged weapon, but couldn't confirm the weapon's existence, police said. The man sustained non-life threatening injuries during the altercation and declined medical attention at the scene, police said.

The incident remains under investigation.
