Stamford Man Found Slumped Behind Wheel in Port Chester
Police officers had difficulty waking 52-year-old Daniel Sylvester when they found him passed out in his car on Midland Avenue Saturday night.
Behind the wheel of a car in traffic on Midland Avenue. A perfectly reasonable place to take a nap, isn't it?
A Stamford man tried to dodge a DWI charge on Saturday night by telling police he was "just sleepy and tired" and not drunk when he decided a traffic lane was a suitable place for some shuteye and passed out behind the wheel.
Several passing drivers dialed police to report a man slumped over the steering wheel of his red Lincoln on Midland Avenue a few minutes after 11 p.m. It took arriving officers several progressively louder knocks on the driver's side window to get 52-year-old Daniel Sylvester to stir, Lt. James Ladeairous said.
