Stamford Man Charged with Threatening to Blow Up Bristol Town Hall

A Stamford man was taken into custody by Bristol police for allegedly threatening to blow up the town hall building there on Monday.

According to Stamford authorities, the department was contacted by Bristol police and asked to assist in locating Robert Daprile, 51, at his Stamford residence on Holcomb Avenue. Bristol authorities relayed to Stamford police that Daprile had made threats of placing a bomb in the town hall buildings during a phone conversation with a town hall employee, police said.

Daprile was held at his residence by Stamford authorities until Bristol police showed up, at which point he was taken into custody without incident, police said.

The man was reportedly upset over a lien placed on a property he owned in Bristol due to blight issues, according to reports from the Hartford Courant.

Daprile was held in lieu of a $40,000 bond on charges of first-degree threatening and second-degree breach of peace.
