Stamford Man Charged with DUI in Darien

A 28-year-old man was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol after police stopped him on the Post Road.

 

An improper turn off of the Post Road at 2:21 a.m. Sunday led police to stop a 28-year-old driver who was soon arrested on a charge of driving while under the influence of alcohol, Darien police said.

Ryan Horowitz of Stamford was driving a 2006 Subaru Baja east on the Post Road early Sunday with a defective headlight when he was seen by a police officer.

The officer turned his patrol car around and followed Horowitz. The officer then saw Horowitz make an improper turn onto Outlook Drive.

When the officer stopped the Subaru, he smelled an alcoholic beverage on him. Horowitz, of 476 Pepper Ridge Road, failed field sobriety tests and was arrested on a charge of driving while under the influence of alcohol.

He posted a $250 bond and is to appear Aug. 22 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
