Stamford Man Arrested for Punching Guest at Fairfield Party

Michael McKay, 21, accused the victim of stealing beer, according to police.

 

A 21-year-old Stamford man was arrested on Wednesday for assaulting a guest that he accused of stealing beer during a party in April, according to Sgt. Sue Lussier.

The victim told police that he was punched by an unidentifed man during a college party in Fairfield. The fight began when the victim went into the fridge to take a beer and the assailant accused him of stealing. The victim, who called the department from Bridgeport Hospital, said that the man punched him several times to the ground, which cause numerous injuries to face, according to police. He was later transferred to Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Sgt. Lussier said that officers followed up with Michael McKay of Huntington Ridge Road, who lived at the apartment where the party was held, but he refused to give a statement and told police that it was self defense.

After further investigation, police obtained a warrant for McKay's arrest and he turned himself in. He was charged with third-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace. He was released on a PTA and is scheduled to appear in court on June 6.

A 46-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday on various charges after he was caught shoplifting at two Stop & Shop stores in Fairfield and Westport.

According to Sgt. Lussier, officers pursued Skeeter Davis, homeless, after they received a call from Stop & Shop on Kings Highway stating that he stole some energy drinks from the store. The store's security team was alerted to him after he was caught on video shoplifting from Stop & Shop in Westport earlier that day.

Officers caught up to Davis at the Fairfield Motor Inn. Davis couldn't provide identification and gave the officers numerous aliases, including John Davis and James Davis. When officers searched him, they found a crack pipe. Davis was arrested and charged with interferring with a police offer and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $500 and he is scheduled to appear in court on June 6.

A 68-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday for stealing $97 worth of groceries from Stop & Shop on Kings Highway.

According to police, Carl Gates of Park Avenue in Bridgeport filled his cart with groceries and scanned them at a self-checkout line. He then walked out of the store with the cart without paying. When he was questioned by security, Davis said that he could find his state food card and that he was planning to go to his car to find the card and bring it back.

Davis was charged with sixth-degree larceny and he was released on a PTA. He is scheduled to appear in court on May 30.

A 14-year-old boy was arrested on Wednesday after punching another 14-year-old while the two were playing basketball at the Boys & Girls Club.

According to police, the assailant randomly punched the victim on the right side of the face after the two had an argument at school earlier that day. The victim's father contacted the department and requested the assailant's arrest, Sgt. Lussier said.

The assailant was released on a PTA and is scheduled to appear in court on May 30.
