Stamford Man Arrested After Alleged Shower-Time Boxcutter Slashing

a 24-year-old man about to take a shower was charged with slashing the hand of the 19-year-old son of his girlfriend with a boxcutter.

Officers responding to reports of an assault in the 700 block of Atlantic St. Thursday night took a 24-year-old man into custody after he allegedly slashed his girlfriend's son on the hand with a boxcutter, police said.

Alex Sanchez was arrested shortly before 9 p.m. after he was reportedly involved in an altercation with his on-again, off-again girlfriend and her 19-year-old son at the apartment they all shared, police said.

According to aquthorities, Sanchez had been drinking and invited his 36-year-old girlfriend to a drink with him. When she declined, an argument began and police said he allegedly kicked the wmoan in the back at some point.

Sanchez then entered the bathroom to take a shower and the victim's son returned home. When the victim's son learned of what had occurred, the teen took a knife into the bathroom and demanded Sanchez get out of the house and end the relationship with the victim.

Sanchez somehow disarmed the teen and then produced a boxcutter, police said. They did not have information on where Sanchez had allegedly been storing the boxcutter as he prepared to take a shower.

Responding EMS said the cuts to the hand of the victim's son appeared to be defensive.

Sanchez was charged with two counts of assault, one second-degree and one third-degree. He was also charged with third-degree criminal mischief.
