Stamford Man, 48, Charged with Having Child Porn

The Travis Avenue man is accused of possession of child pornography and of promoting a minor in an obscene performance.

A 48-year-old Stamford man faces child pornography charges — the result of a statewide Connecticut State Police investigation.

Michael Forthmuller, 48, of Travis Avenue was charged with first-degree possession of child pornography (said to have been committed on Dec. 12, 2013) and promoting a minor in an obscene performance (said to have been committed on June 17, 2013).

He was initially held on $75,000 bond and appeared Friday in state Superior Court in Stamford. His next court date is April 8.

According to state police, detectives from the Connecticut State Police Computer Crimes Unit, assisted by members of the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations and Sex Offenders Unit, conducted an arrest warrant sweep across the state on Thursday, March 27. 

"After several lengthy and thorough investigations, 18 people from across the state were arrested," state police said in a press release. The Connecticut State Police Computer Crimes Investigations Unit is also the command for Connecticut’s Internet Crimes Against Children’s Task Force.
