Stamford Man, 29, Charged with DUI, Ignoring Signal

A 29-year-old Stamford man, stopped Tuesday, Dec. 18, while driving on Hollow Tree Ridge Road in Darien, is charged with driving while under the influence and traffic violations.

 

A 29-year-old man was driving while under the influence of alcohol when he failed to obey a flashing red light, then a stop sign, police said.

At about 12:46 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 18, Carlos Barbaran of Stamford was driving south on Hollow Tree Ridge Road.

A police officer saw Barbaran's car, a 2002 Nissan Altima, fail to stop for the flashing red light at the Avalon apartments complex and the Noroton Heights Metro-North station.

Driving further south, Barbaran failed to stop for the stop sign at Hollow Tree Ridge Road and Linden Avenue.

When a police oficer pulled over Barbaran and spoke with him, the officer could smell alcohol on him. Barbaran then failed field sobriety tests and was arrested on charges of driving while under the influence of alcohol, failure to obey a traffic control signal and failure to obey a stop sign.

Barbaran, of 69 Albin Rd., Stamford, later posted a $250 bond pending a Dec. 28 appearance in state Superior Court in Stamford.

Stamford Arrests

Puja Chirnomula, 20, of Oxford Ct., charged Thursday night with two counts second-degree failure to appear.  

Brandon Turner, 18, of Alden St., charged Thursday evening with violation of probation.

Davon Elijah Williams, 25, of Cedar St., charged Thursday afternoon with third-degree criminal trespass.
