Stamford Male Threatens Suicide Over Credit Debt

A 51-year-old male living in Stamford was charged with resisting an officer on Thursday for a situation that began with a credit card debt.

An unidentified Stamford male was charged with resisting an officer following an incident where he threatened to commit suicide, and then fought police when they attempted to stop him.

"Officers responded to a report of a male threatening to commit suicide," SPD's Sgt. Robert Shawinsky said. "On the way there, they received information that the man was having a conversation with a customer service representative at a major credit card company.

"He told the customer service rep that he'd slit his throat," Shawinsky said. "It was regarding a bill that the company claimed he hadn't paid. He claimed that the bill was paid, and to stop bothering him."
