Second Conspirator In Stamford Drug Operation Sentenced to Over Five Years [Update]

Stamford resident James Hill has been sentenced to 70 months in federal prison for purchasing and distributing mass quantities of crack-cocaine in Stamford and other Connecticut regions.

James Hill, 25, of Stillwater Avenue, Stamford, was sentenced to 70 months by a federal judge on Thursday for his role in a massive Stamford crack-cocaine ring. He is the second ring-operator to receive serious time as a result of Operation Big Loot.

"On October 6, 2009, law enforcement officers working with the DEA stopped HILL and a co-defendant in a vehicle on Interstate 95 as it drove back from the Bronx and seized nearly 100 grams of crack cocaine," U.S. Attorney David B. Fein said in a recent press release.  Hill plead guilty to one count of conspiring to distribute 50g of crack cocaine in June of 2010, according to the Department of Justice.

Stamford's Guiverson Joseph has was sentenced to thirty months for purchasing 332 grams of crack-cocaine in NY and seliing it across the state, according to the Department of Justice.

"David B. Fein, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, today announced that Guiverson Joseph, 21, of Stamford, was sentenced yesterday, October 20, by Chief United States District Judge Alvin W. Thompson in Hartford to 30 months of imprisonment, followed by five years of supervised release, for distributing crack cocaine,"  the Department of Justice announced in a recent press release.  "This matter stems from “Operation Big Loot,” a six-month investigation that was spearheaded by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Stamford Police Department’s Narcotics and Organized Crime Squad."  

Joseph, who sold much of his product in Stamford, had over $11,321 in his Merrell Ave. apartment when he was arrested, and police seized over $165,000-worth of drugs, guns, and vehicles from Joseph upon his arrest on December 9, 2009.

"As a result of the investigation, a total of 52 individuals have been charged in state and federal court with various narcotics offenses related to the distribution of cocaine and crack cocaine in the greater Stamford area," the DOJ stated.
