Bank Robbed on Bedford St. in Stamford

The suspect made off with roughly $70.

Police responding to a reported bank robbery on Bedford St. Friday morning at approximately 9:15 a.m. found the suspect to have made off with approximately $70, they announced Friday.

Lt. Diedrich Hohn said a heavy-set black male, roughly 6-feet, 3-inches tall passed a note to a teller demanding money and threatening violence. Th teller allegedly handed the man $70, at which point he turned and left, the lieutenant said.

"There was no dye pack involved, but we're going to get some pretty good pictures," Hohn said. "I think we're going to get him pretty quickly. It sounds like he might be a local guy."

No weapon was presented during the incident.The suspect was described as wearing a blue Champion sweatshirt, Yankees hat and khaki pants.
