Stamford Academy Student Arrested for Assaulting Teacher
18-year-old Shaquille Waldron-Gray grabbed his teacher's tie and attempted to strangle him, according to police.
arrested an 18-year-old Stamford Academy student on Wednedsay after he attempted to strangle a teacher while on campus, according to Sgt. Robert Shawinsky.
Police said that the teacher approached Shaquille Waldron-Gray of 225 Washington Boulevard, Stamford, in the hallway on Wednesday to reprimand him about being consistently late to class. Shawinsky said the conversation escalated into a physical confrontation where Waldron-Gray grabbed the teacher's tie and attempted to strangle him.
The police were called, but Waldron-Gray left campus before officers arrived, Shawinsky said. Witnesses told police that they saw Waldron-Gray enter the Bedford Street garage and when officers caught up to him, Waldron-Gray attempted to punch an officer in the face, but missed, according to Shawinsky.

Waldron-Gray was charged with hindering prosecution in the second-degree, third-degree assault, first-degree threatening, second-degree strangulation and disorderly conduct. His bond was set at $2,500.
