RI Man Charged in Stamford Party Slashing

Police said the victim needed stitches and staples to close a wound on his face after being attacked with a bottle.

A suspect who allegedly slashed a man in the face with a bottle during a party on Fourth Street in April was arrested by Stamford police on a warrant Tuesday afternoon, authorities announced Wednesday. 

Mynor Alexander Bonilla, 28, of Moore St. in Central Island, RI, was charged in the incident in which the victim needed stitches and staples to close a gash in his face from ear to chin, Lt. Diedrich Hohn said.

Hohn said the investigation took some time as many of those interviewed from the party didnt know who Bonilla was.

After some time, Bonilla was developed as a suspect and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Police in Waterford conducting a traffic stop discovered the warrant and arrested Bonilla, who was then extradicted to Stamford.

Bonilla was charged with second-degree assault and held on a $25,000 bond.
