Purse Reported Stolen in New Canaan; Good Samaritan Returns Contents

A woman who reported her purse being stolen from her vehicle while she was on a stroll through Waveny Park had the purse—and the entirety of its contents—returned to her after a Good Samaritan discovered it in the park later.

According to Sgt. Carol Ogrinc, a 32-year-old Darien woman reported on Saturday, September 14, that her $700 red-and-beige Gucci bag went missing from her car at approximately 12:30 p.m. while she was parked in the lot by Spencer's Run. The woman said the purse contained $30 in cash, credit cards and her license, according to Ogrinc.

Ogrinc said there were no signs of forced entry and the woman couldn't be sure she'd locked her car.

At approximately 2:40 p.m., an individual arrived at the police station and turned in a purse they'd found near the soccer fields at Waveny Park. The original complainant arrived at the station and found her purse—and all its contents—in tact, Ogrinc said.
