Box, Not Child Thrown into Honda Trunk [Update]

Police across the state reported that a child was thrown into the trunk of a car at Stamford's Town Center Mall, but it was actually a box.

Update, 10:00 p.m.

Earlier, police issued an Amber alert to rescue a small child that was allegedly thrown into the trunk of a black Honda, however, police now report that a box was actually thrown into the car, according to a breaking alert from News 12.

Police reportedly tracked down the driver of the 1993 Honda Civic with the license plate ENL9676 to discover that he was not holding a child against their will.

Although police are still investigating the matter, no criminal charges will be filed.

An Amber Alert that was called due to a possible child abduction has been cancelled due to unknown specifics, according to local traffic reports.

Late Wednesday afternoon, police across Connecticut reported that  witnesses saw a Hispanic male put a child into the trunk of a black Honda with the New York license plate number ENL9676.

The child, whose age has not been released, was taken at 100 Greyrock Place, which is two miles from I-95.

At this time, Stamford police cannot comment on why the amber alert was called off, or if an arrest has been made.

A "four or five" year-old child was forcibly taken from Stamford's Town Center Mall, according to a regional police broadcast.

Police reported around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday that a Hispanic male of an unknown age put a small child in the trunk of his car and drove off.

The identites of the man and the child, in addition to the child's age, have not been released.
